□ Name: Kimimaro (canon lists it as Kaguya Kimimaro, but "Kaguya" is the name of his clan and his name is never officially written as "Kaguya Kimimaro" that I'm aware of. NARUTO NAMES ARE FUN)
□ Journal:
danceofbones
□ Series: Naruto (manga)
□ Canon point: post-death
□ History: here
□ Personality: Kimimaro comes from a clan of really brutal shinobi who enjoy fighting and killing. However, he never has really been into that. He wants to use his abilities for others, not for his own glory, and not for senseless violence. Ironically, he's the strongest member of that Kaguya clan, and grew up with his powers being feared. His clan kept him in a cage, only letting him out to fight. Despite that, Kimimaro remained calm and gentle. He doesn't see the point in hurting other people without a reason for it. If there is a reason, he won't hold back, but he won't ever senselessly attack anyone else. He is a kind person overall, though he is often distant from others due to how he was treated as a child.
A huge part of who Kimimaro is centers around Orochimaru. His devotion to Orochimaru is unmatched and absolute. He would do absolutely anything for Orochimaru, and his sense of self-worth was totally shattered when he became too sick to become Orochimaru's new container. Even when Kimimaro lay sick and dying, he forced himself to get out of bed again through sheer exertion of will. Kimimaro wanted to believe he had a purpose. Since the first purpose he really found for himself - living to become Orochimaru's container, and serving Orochimaru to the best of his ability - failed, he decided to use the last of his waning strength to bring Sasuke to Orochimaru to become the container instead.
Kimimaro's sense of loyalty is strong, but it isn't easy to gain it. His loyalty to Orochimaru is unwavering, but his loyalty to his teammates - the other members of the Sound Five - isn't absolute. He has no problems with taking people down if he considers them failures or "trash" in any way. He will bring down a friend or an enemy if he feels they don't deserve to continue on, or if they fail. Being raised by someone like Orochimaru for a long time left him with a sense of a kind of arrogance, since Orochimaru built him up to believe no one was stronger or worthier. This is a large part of why he feels many other people are trash in comparison. It's hard to call it outright arrogance, since it's more part of an indoctrination by Orochimaru than anything else. Either way, it's a huge part of his personality.. He's aware of his own strength and his own power, and he often sees others as beneath him, and certainly beneath Orochimaru. He does respect strength in others, though. He is very close friends with Juugo, and he is able to calm Juugo's rages easily.
Kimimaro isn't really afraid of anything. He never had to be, since he himself was feared by his clan and his clan was feared by many others. He never found any reason to be afraid during his time with Orochimaru. The only thing that ever really upset him was that he could no longer be of use to Orochimaru. He hates himself for succumbing to his illness, because that ruined his purpose in life. Still, he hung on to life for quite awhile, wanting to find a way to live for Orochimaru's sake, and help him achieve his goals.
Kimimaro is a brutal fighter, but an honest one. He does have a sense of honor, though he will sling insults at people without second thought. He doesn't really rely on dirty tactics in a fight because he doesn't have to. He does underestimate others, though, because of his idea that no one is stronger than him. He is an incredibly strong and incredibly dangerous shinobi, even when ill, but he's not invincible. No one is.
Kimimaro isn't very good at showing emotion. He does feel emotion, of course, he just doesn't express it. He tends to be aloof and distant, and isn't quick to smile or to raise his voice. While he does insult other people, he doesn't really do it out of anger or hatred, but more out of an inflated sense of his own ability. He is actually very insecure about his own existence since becoming ill, though he hides that from most other people. (The only person who hears him mention anything of the sort is Kabuto.)
NOTE: Kimimaro does retain much of his childhood kindness (seen in his friendship with Juugo). A lot of what is seen of him in the manga is just in battle. His arrogance, for instance, is in regards to opponents or people who he sees as failing Orochimaru - not in regards to everyone all the time. The little that is seen out of battle indicates his gentler nature and the fact that he's not really a bad person. He's been sort of brainwashed by years of following Orochimaru, and that governs so much of what he does. But the person he was as a child hasn't been erased, either.
□ Age: 15
□ Gender: boy/male/that type
□ Appearance: Kimimaro is 166.1 cm (around 5'3") and underweight (around 109 pounds). He's been sick for a long time, so it shows on him. He has very pale skin and silvery white hair, with large green eyes. He has two red circles in the center of his forehead, just above the eyebrows, like all other members of his clan. He also has a cursed seal mark below his collarbone, in the center.
□ Abilities/Powers:
Kimimaro has a a kekkei genkai (bloodline limit) unique to the members of the Kaguya clan, called Shikotsumyaku. However, his power is A LOT higher than any of the other Kaguya clan members, to the point where they feared him even as a child. It's kind of ridiculous and hard to explain, but basically he can break apart his bones and make them softer, harder, more malleable, more plentiful. He can push them out of his body and use them as weapons, and they can get hard enough to withstand very powerful strikes (even from blades). His body structure isn't quite like other shinobi, though, which is ultimately why the illness that killed him was untreatable.
Kimimaro is good with taijutsu (it's a form of hand to hand combat) and best with close up combat. He also has really really good physical endurance (even when he was dying of illness, he had good stamina).
Kimimaro was given more power by Orochimaru, through the Cursed Seal of Earth (marked on his chest). It's said to be the strongest seal (tied with the Cursed Seal of Heaven) that Orochimaru uses. This allows Kimimaro to amp up his power and change form into something that resembles a monster. This monster form darkens and thickens his skin so it's basically impenetrable. It does slow him down, physically, but it increases his strength to insane amounts.
Like other shinobi in his world, he does have use of chakra (energy) to perform abilities, and this contributes to any fighting he would do.
Kimimaro suffers from an unnamed and apparently incurable illness that caused his body to waste away and made him useless to Orochimaru as a vessel. I would like to take away this illness for the sake of Ariel, as it wouldn't do him any good to just be stuck in bed sick all the time!

It should be beneath me to even bother asking this. However, circumstances have changed since my arrival.
I would have thought that the loss of abilities was something I could live with, but I am finding otherwise. A way to regain strength…
[He falters there slightly, and stops. getting his power back might mean his illness returns with them. He can't say, and there is no one to ask. Finally, he decides it's worth the risk of finding out.]
A mutual exchange. If you have something you're seeking to get back, I will help you, as that in turn will help me. You don't have to bother telling me your names. That doesn't matter. All that I care about is regaining this lost strength.
